Case Study / Branded Sales Collateral
Turning a Static Media Kit Into a Flexible, Branded Sales Tool
A media kit redesign for Kids Out and About that transformed a static Publisher-based PDF into a polished, editable PowerPoint sales tool the team could update, customize, present, and reuse across regions.
A stronger sales tool built for real-world team use.
Kids Out and About needed a more polished, branded, and customizable media kit that could support a growing sales effort without depending on a designer every time rates, circulation numbers, or regional details changed.
Vertical Insite redesigned the media kit as a flexible PowerPoint-based marketing tool, making it easier for staff to update, personalize by region, and repurpose as a PDF, slideshow, or presentation-ready sales asset.
The project was not simply a layout refresh. It was about creating a branded sales system that looked more professional while staying practical for the people who had to use it every day.
The old media kit was too static for a growing sales process.
Kids Out and About already had a media kit, but it was built in Microsoft Publisher and used primarily as a PDF. It was not strongly branded, not easy to customize for different clients or regions, and not especially practical for an internal sales team that needed to update changing information.
The company needed a media kit that better reflected the brand, supported a more strategic sales process, and could be edited by non-designers without friction.
- The existing media kit was too static and difficult to customize
- Sales representatives needed to update rates, circulation numbers, and regional information
- The design needed to feel more polished, professional, and brand-aligned
- The document needed to work as a PDF, slideshow, and presentation asset
- The team needed more control without relying on advanced design software
Create a polished media kit the team could actually maintain.
- Redesign the media kit with stronger brand presentation and visual hierarchy
- Make the document easier for internal staff to update over time
- Support regional customization for different markets and representatives
- Create a reusable asset that could function as a PDF, slideshow, and sales presentation
- Build a practical branded template that could evolve as offerings and data changed
Choose the format around how the sales team really works.
Rather than treating the project as a static print piece, Vertical Insite recommended building the media kit in PowerPoint.
That decision became a key part of the project’s success. PowerPoint gave the client the flexibility to update numbers and pricing internally, tailor the document for different regions, save it as a PDF, and use it as a slideshow or presentation tool when needed.
The strategy was to create a branded, sales-ready document that felt polished and intentional while still being practical for ongoing internal use.
“The right format mattered as much as the design. The media kit needed to look professional, but it also needed to be easy for the sales team to use, update, and adapt.”
A five-page branded marketing piece with built-in flexibility.
The final media kit was developed as a five-page branded marketing piece designed to be clear, attractive, and easy for staff to update over time.
- Created a branded introduction page with family-focused imagery, representative contact information, company branding, and regional skyline or geographic visuals
- Designed an audience page to communicate regional and national reach using maps, statistics, and demographic information
- Created an image and video advertising page showing placement options and ad formats
- Designed a content advertising page explaining upgraded listings, content ads, and article-based opportunities
- Created a newsletter advertising page covering e-blasts, newsletter placements, and image-based ad options
The document was intentionally structured so key elements — including regional skyline graphics, pricing, circulation numbers, and sales details — could be updated by the internal team without needing advanced design software.
Because it was created in PowerPoint, the media kit could function as an editable internal sales document, a polished PDF for email or print, a slideshow or presentation asset, and a reusable branded template for future updates.
A more professional sales asset with long-term internal flexibility.
Increase in revenue in the first year, supported by the redesigned media kit and related design and marketing guidance.
The redesigned media kit gave Kids Out and About a more polished and professional sales tool while significantly improving ease of use for the internal team.
Instead of relying on a static Publisher file that was difficult to brand and customize, the company gained a flexible document that could evolve with the business. Sales representatives could update changing information more easily, tailor content to specific regions, and use the same core asset across multiple sales situations.
“The value was not only in how the media kit looked, but in how much more useful — and scalable — it became.”
Client Feedback
A pivotal turning point for the Kids Out and About brand.
“Carrie Falzone’s design work was a pivotal turning point for KidsOutAndAbout.com. In 2020, she replaced our basic one-pagers with stunning, multi-page media kits that immediately elevated our brand. Her design and marketing advice helped drive a 35% increase in revenue in the first year alone. More important, Carrie didn’t make us reliant on her; she created a system that empowered us to easily adapt, clone, and evolve her templates for endless new circumstances. Her work provided both a professional edge and the long-term agility we needed to scale.”
